We recently donated 2,000 custom stickers to the Dear Jack Foundation. For those of you who are not familiar with the Dear Jack Foundation, allow me to give you some information about this great cause.
The Dear Jack Foundation was created in 2006 by Andrew McMahon, the lead vocalist for the band Jack’s Mannequin. In 2005, Andrew was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia (ALL). During the summer of 2005, Andrew underwent two rounds of chemotherapy and a successful stem cell transplant from his sister. During his battle with ALL, Andrew realized that there were still significant shortfalls in treatment, support and research. So as an effort to initiate change for young adults who have been diagnosed with cancer, Andrew started the Dear Jack Foundation.
Their mission statement from their website reads as follows:
“Our mission is to be a leader in raising awareness and supporting organizations and charities with the greatest need and highest potential for impact on young adult cancer patients. We specifically aim to find treatments as well as expand on quality of life initiatives, such as counseling for young adult patients and their families. This age group of 15 to 35 year old patients is in desperate need of research. Cancer is the number one disease killer of young adults and studies continually show that the survival rate has not improved as steadily as that of other age groups.”
